Işık University in Istanbul

Throughout the educational process, laboratory studies are prioritized at Işık University. The University administration places a high value on laboratory studies in order for students to be competitive in their university lives and when they join the workforce. Işık University has eight computer laboratories. There are 150 high-performance computers with software applications for the topics discussed in the undergraduate computer-aided courses in these laboratories. The laboratories provide students with access to a variety of programming languages, databases, operating systems, the internet, and web-based applications.

Accommodation and Dormitory

Accommodation for male and female students is available at the Istanbul Technical University Ayazaa Campus, with which Işık University collaborates. On the Şile Campus, which opened in the academic year 2003–2004, student housing has been prepared for students.

One of the main principles of student housing planning is that instead of large dormitory buildings where many students will be together and social relations will be strained, fewer students will stay, so that living together will not be more than the quality and quantity of home life. These are places where people can be easily connected, friendships can be fostered, and communities can be built — allowing for shared activities, meetings, and social engagement.

Campus Life

All types of social facilities that students may need have been included at the Işık University Campus. Indoor Sports Hall 1525, which can be considered a social activity area with 500 spectator tribunes, Gymnastics Block 1385 (table tennis, squash, fitness, seminar rooms, gymnasiums, sauna, sports museum), and a 6-lane semi-Olympic Indoor Swimming Hall (2900 m²) are all part of campus life.

The social activity areas also include an open-air swimming pool, basketball, soccer, tennis, and football fields. The campus features a large auditorium with an orchestra pit for 1,018 spectators for performing arts, concerts, and conferences, and a second hall for 310 people for dance, music, theater, film, and more. Additionally, there are 6,300 m² of congress and lecture spaces, and an open-air theater for 1,400 people.
